Mitzutani is famous for being one of the few Japanese students at the Bauhaus. His name appears on the Bauhaus student list for the first time in the summer of 1927. However, his table has never been produced, photographs of the original model (in wood) have been published in certain photo collections of Bauhaus furniture.
Not much is known about the period of Mitzuzani's stay at Bauhaus. He returned to Japan before the war and taught at the school where he had studied, the Tokyo College of Fine Arts (now the Faculty of Fine Arts, at the University of Tokyo of the Fine Arts and Music). He remained there as Professor of Architecture until 1944. He died in 1969.
